Adult Education Literacy (AEL) Instructor & English Language Acquisition (ELA) Instructor

East Central College is seeking part-time English Language Acquisition Instructors and College and Career Readiness Instructors. Instructors work with students on individual lessons in the areas of most need for the students.

• ELA Instructor: Rolla or Union

Rolla: Civics/Citizenship - Monday and Thursday, 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Adult Education and Literacy classes have two focus areas:

• College and Career Readiness Instructor: Sullivan, Union, or Pacific

With some retirements and others moving to new locations, these are positions for which we are hiring. Please indicate the class location in which you are interested.

Union Days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, 12:30-3:30 pm

Must have strong math skills and be able to relate to adults (17 years and older)

College and Career Readiness classes
Prepare for college or career placement exams, finishing high school education and passing the high school equivalency test
Instructors teach reading, math, language/writing skills, and some social studies and science review.
English Language Acquisition
Learning English as a second language and US Citizenship test preparation.
Instructors teach English skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking as well as US Citizenship.

Minimum Qualifications: (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
• Completion of a B.S. or B.A. degree.
• Possess current AEL teacher certification or must be able to obtain AEL certification.
• Fingerprint background check required.
• Must have strong math skills and be able to relate to adults (17 years and older).
• Teaching or tutoring experience preferred.

Minimum starting salary:

Starting salary is $14.50 an hour for an Instructor and $14.00 an hour for Substitutes.
